Zimbabwe’s Loss is Nigeria’s Gain May 2, 2008

Why couldn’t they be America’s gain?

Chrisitan Science Monitor:

White Zimbabweans bring change to Nigeria

Shonga, Nigeria - Musa Mogadi says he is better off since “the whites” came. He’s got a new job, learned new farming skills, and he can chat on a mobile phone while zipping around the countryside on a motorbike.

Three years ago, Mr. Mogadi got by as a subsistence farmer. But he now earns a regular wage as a supervisor on one of this town’s new commercial farms.

He’s applied skills he learned from some of the two dozen white Zimbabwean farmers who moved to Nigeria in 2005, after being kicked off their land by President Robert Mugabe and later attracted by large parcels of land on offer under 25-year leases and commitments of support from the Nigerian government.

Production on his farm is now up.

“We are starting to use fertilizers,” says Mogadi, explaining that he was encouraged to buy fertilizer after seeing yield benefits on the commercial farm. He’s also started planting his maize in a more compact formation, like the Zimbabweans, increasing production from each field planted.

Before the Zimbabweans arrived, there was no mobile phone network in the area and so no reason to have a mobile phone. Now he and most of the other workers have snazzy cellphones, and many have bought motorbikes imported from China, often with a loan from their employer.

In the future, when the national power network reaches the Shonga farms, Mogadi is looking forward to having electricity in his home and village for the first time.

Kenny Oyewo, who works as a farm manager, thinks the lessons being learned in Shonga should be exported across Nigeria.

The trouble is, even if it helps Nigerians, as the whites become more prosperous and influential, the racial hate and jealousy of them will also increase, which will lead to a Mugabe-like figure running Nigeria.

Better late than never — This AP story, written on April 7, 2008, reads like something out of the Citizens Informer ten years ago.

A sample:

Mugabe’s land reform program was supposed to redistribute among poor blacks large commercial farms owned by about 4,500 whites that covered 80 percent of Zimbabwe’s best land. Instead, he used the farms to extend his patronage system, giving them to ruling party leaders, security chiefs, relatives and friends.

Zimbabwe had been a major food exporter until then, but its agricultural sector collapsed and the economy started unraveling. Today, a third of Zimbabweans depend on international food handouts, and another third have fled abroad looking for work or political asylum.

Eighty percent of Zimbabwe’s workers don’t have jobs, and the country suffers chronic shortages of medicine, food, fuel, water and electricity as inflation blazes at 100,000 percent a year.

The elite that still lives in luxury has a vested interest in keeping Mugabe in power. He makes them rich with gifts of land, government contracts and business licenses.

Spot the contradiction.

Washington Times:

Rice hits U.S. ‘birth defect’

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said yesterday that the United States still has trouble dealing with race because of a national “birth defect” that denied black Americans the opportunities given to whites at the country’s very founding.

“Black Americans were a founding population,” she said. “Africans and Europeans came here and founded this country together — Europeans by choice and Africans in chains. That’s not a very pretty reality of our founding.”

As a result, Miss Rice told editors and reporters at The Washington Times, “descendants of slaves did not get much of a head start, and I think you continue to see some of the effects of that.”

“That particular birth defect makes it hard for us to confront it, hard for us to talk about it, and hard for us to realize that it has continuing relevance for who we are today,” she said.

And then Fox News:

Rice Says Zimbabwe President Mugabe Is `Disgrace’ to His People and to Africa

JERUSALEM  —  Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Sunday branded Zimbabwe’s president a “disgrace” to his people and to Africa, and expressed concerns about verifying whether the country held free and fair elections.

Rice, in the Mideast for peace talks, made the harsh comments after voting Saturday in Zimbabwe that presented Robert Mugabe with the toughest challenge to his 28-year rule. The main opposition party on Sunday claimed an early lead; preliminary results were expected by Monday.

“We’ve made very clear our concerns about how this election might be conducted, given the very bad record of Mugabe concerning his people, the opposition and the region,” Rice told reporters after meeting with Israeli and Palestinian leaders.

“We’ve tried to make a case … that there needed to be free and fair elections in Zimbabwe as much as it was possible. It’s difficult since really no international observation was allowed,” the top U.S. diplomat said.

“But really, the Mugabe regime is a disgrace to the people of Zimbabwe and a disgrace to southern Africa and to the continent of Africa as whole,” she said.

It seems like all Robert Mugabe did was atone for Rhodesia’s “birth defect.”

Kenya police fire teargas to halt gang protest

Kenyan police fired teargas on Wednesday to scatter street protests by hundreds of young men demanding the release of a former leader of the outlawed Mungiki gang from prison.

Police in riot gear chased the protesters through downtown Nairobi, frightening residents still on edge after post-election violence which killed more than 1,000 people and forced 300,000 from their homes.

“We demand the immediate release of Maina Njenga and his cars, which were impounded by the police,” a statement given to Reuters by a rioter said.

John Maina Njenga, a former leader and founder member of the Mungiki criminal gang, is serving a five-year sentence for possession of an illegal firearm.

(snip)

According to local media, Njenga renounced the gang while in prison, saying he had become a born-again Christian.

Then why are all these young men (presumably fellow gangsters) demanding that they want him sprung?  This reminds me of the time leading up to Stanley “Tookie” Williams being dispatched to his just reward more than two years ago.  We were supposed to believe that he renounced the Crips gang he founded, yet there were all these threats of violence and retribution from the Crips upon his execution.

A BHO Presidency is going to cost you.  We’ll be begging for George W. Bush’s Africa tab by the time Obama is through.

New York Times:

On his last visit, Mr. Obama visited two area schools that had been renamed for him. The intention in renaming the schools seems to have been partly to attract funding. One person after another noted pointedly that it was a shame that a school named for a great American should be so dilapidated.

Some of Mr. Obama’s innumerable relatives also see him as a meal ticket. They have made arrangements with a tour group to bring buses of visitors to have tea with Mama Sarah.

Washington Post:

A Nuclear Site Is Breached
South African Attack Should Sound Alarms

An underreported attack on a South African nuclear facility last month demonstrates the high risk of theft of nuclear materials by terrorists or criminals. Such a crime could have grave national security implications for the United States or any of the dozens of countries where nuclear materials are held in various states of security.

Shortly after midnight on Nov. 8, four armed men broke into the Pelindaba nuclear facility 18 miles west of Pretoria, a site where hundreds of kilograms of weapons-grade uranium are stored. According to the South African Nuclear Energy Corp., the state-owned entity that runs the Pelindaba facility, these four “technically sophisticated criminals” deactivated several layers of security, including a 10,000-volt electrical fence, suggesting insider knowledge of the system. Though their images were captured on closed-circuit television, they were not detected by security officers because nobody was monitoring the cameras at the time.

It was underreported because reporting it might draw attention to the deleterious consequences of changing from a white apartheid government to a corrupt black government.

The President of Sudan has commuted the sentence of the British “Teddy Bear” teacher, Gillian Gibbons, and will very soon be deported.

If you think that he did this out of the goodness of his heart, or purely for altruistic or civil libertarian reasons, you’re delusional, especially when his country is full of fanatics who wanted her executed. He wouldn’t risk the legitimacy of his regime to free her if the Brits didn’t give him something in return. Also, it’s not like he himself is a secular moderate.

And here’s a clue:

The incident also pointed up the strained relations between Britain and Sudan, where al-Bashir’s rules with Islamic Sharia law and with anti-West rhetoric.

Al-Bashir has resisted Western peacekeeping efforts in conflict-torn Darfur. Last month, he objected to the unclusion of Swedish members in a U.N. peacekeeping force scheduled to be deployed next month in Darfur on the grounds Scandinavian newspapers last year published cartoons that were plasphemous of Mohammed.

Brown has led the way among Western leaders this year in pressing peace efforts in Darfur, including urging sanctions against the Sudanese government if it failed to cooperate.

There’s the price. Look for the British and European foreign relations establishment to stop talking about Darfur. Not that it’s such a bad thing that the white world gets its collective nose out of a black-on-black imbrogliana. After all, if the Balkans aren’t worth the bones of one single Pomeranian musketeer, then black Muslim Africa isn’t worth a paper scratch on the same.

London Sunday Times:

Scores of British school children are being sent away to take their GCSEs in Ghana, exchanging truancy and gang culture for traditional teaching and strong discipline, including the cane. “When I was in London I was bad basically,” said Abena, 16, from Hackney, east London, with braces on her teeth and a swagger in her step.

“I stopped going to school and in my head I was, like, thinking money, money, money.”

Dispatched to Africa, far from the world of gangs, theft and knife crime, she found herself at the Faith Montessori boarding school in Accra, Ghana’s capital, where the fees are £1,200 a year.

Most of the school’s expatriate children spend holidays with relatives or guardians in Ghana, returning to Britain once a year. During term time they live in dormitories 10 to a room.

For the parents it is a chance to save their children from the thuggery that has seen 21 teenagers shot or stabbed to death in London alone this year. Abena and three other British pupils at her school now believe they are receiving a rigorous education that was lacking in Britain.

“When your friends know that you’ve gone to Ghana they know that you’re going to get straightened up,” said Sienam, 17, from Edgware, north London, who has been at school in Accra for three years.

Obviously, you have made the proper deduction that these “British” children are black.  And I’m not buying for one second that they’re safe in Ghana.  I think that this is an MSM ploy to portray white culture as a bad environment that spoils and degrades blacks to the point that they engage in gang violence, with the obvious solution being to neuter and dissolve white culture.

The headline says this:

Zimbabwe a disaster, Merkel tells South Africa’s Mbeki

But then the first few paragraphs say this:

PRETORIA (AFP) - Robert Mugabe is presiding over a disaster in Zimbabwe but should still be entitled to attend a forthcoming Europe-Africa summit, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said on Friday.

Summing up talks in Pretoria with President Thabo Mbeki, who is a mediator between Zimbabwe’s opposition and President Mugabe’s ruling party, Merkel said she had made clear her disquiet about the situation across South Africa’s northern border.

“The situation is a very difficult one. It’s a disastrous one, which I very clearly stated in our conversation,” the German leader told a press conference with Mbeki during her first sub-Saharan Africa tour.

She declined to back calls for Mugabe to be barred from a summit between African Union and European Union leaders in Lisbon in December, which British Prime Minister Gordon Brown has threatened to boycott if the Zimbabwean head of state attends.

Remember, the EU-wide travel ban against Mugabe and his chief regime lieutenants is supposedly the EU’s great punishment for his anti-white near-genocidal and dispossessionist policies for his country. If Merkel, a representative of Germany’s center-right political party, can’t even bring herself to enforce that putrid and laughable “punishment,” then she might as well praise Mugabe, because she is demonstrating herself to be a fangless snake. Does she actually think that Mugabe is afraid of her verbal condemnation?

And what’s with this business of her talking with President Mbeki of South Africa about the disaster that is Zimbabwe? Like South Africa itself is paradise? South Africa is about one decade behind Zimbabwe in its own degeneration and anti-white dispossession.

That’s because University City is so pristine and crime-free that everyone is chomping at the bit to know their cops’ secrets.

The deputy chief told KTVI reporters that one of the persistent issues facing African cops is corruption, (what a surprise), and the delegation gave the natives advice on how to weed it out.  Does anyone see the irony of having a black American cop lecture black African cops about corruption?

Mugabe Hands Out Good Advice (For Once) September 28, 2007

CNS News:

Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe’s verbal attack on the leaders of the United States and Britain is a sign of desperation at a time the southern African country’s economic situation remains dire, analysts here said.

Addressing the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Thursday, Mugabe demanded that President Bush and British Prime Minister Gordon Brown keep out of Zimbabwe’s affairs.

“They have no role to play in our national affairs. They are outsiders and should therefore keep out,” he said, adding that Zimbabwe would never again be a “colony.”

I agree. Just get the whites out, and let the country and its people revert to the natural state. Judging from the history of the last several centuries, and the disastrous effects that interfering with black Africa (including chattel slavery and colonialism) has had on American, British and French cities, and their country’s body politic, whites should have never “interfered” to begin with. How does the bumper sticker read? “If I would have known this, I would have picked my own cotton.”

Mugabe also called for an end to economic sanctions imposed by the U.S. and the European Union.

Now that’s contradictory. If Mugabe truly wants non-interference, he shouldn’t mind the sanctions, because they are the ne plus ultra of non-interference by the US and the EU.

Poetic Justice Updates September 23, 2007

Two updates for the Poetic Justice section of the St. Louis CofCC Static Webpage.

(1) On Amy Biehl, from KSDK:

Students at Rockwood Summit High School in suburban St. Louis will hear a powerful message about reconciliation — a lesson taught by the mother of a murder victim and the man who committed the crime.

Linda Biehl and Ntobeko Peni will speak Monday at the school in Fenton. Biehl’s daughter, Amy, was killed in South Africa in 1993 while trying to promote democracy.

Peni was at the time a member of a radical political group. He was one of the men convicted and imprisoned in the killing of Amy Biehl.

After four years in prison, he sought forgiveness from the family. Linda Biehl not only forgave him but hired him as program director of the California-based foundation that bears her daughter’s name.

In July 2003, the last time Linda Biehl was in St. Louis on behalf of said foundation, Amy Biehl’s killers were then getting out of prison in South Africa. Now we find out that the mother hires one of her daughter’s killers to work in the foundation named after the woman he murdered. That would be like the ADL hiring Hitler in 1946.

(2) Some people will never learn. Judith Todd now admits what we all knew, that Robert Mugabe was a thug dictator all along. The first story about her in the Poetic Justice section, as you can see, was that she lost her Zimbabwean citizenship at the hands of the dicator that she helped bring to power.

This new story from the London Sunday Times has two noteworthy points. First, her decision to side with Mugabe and his ZANU-PF party was merely a matter of political retribution towards Ian Smith, because her father, former Rhodesian PM Garfield Todd, and Smith, disagreed on voting rights for blacks, and Smith actually had the audacity to confine those egalitarian crazies to their farm while he had power, as if they had to be quarantined, as if they were the purveyors of a highly communicable disease which threatened the very existence of Rhodesia (and it turns out Smith knew what he was doing). In other words, she toppled the entirety of white society in Rhodesia simply because she and another white person had a political disagreement.

Second:

But hasn’t what happened fully justified Ian Smith and the white racists who predicted that black rule would mean dictatorship, corruption and chaos? “You have to say they called it right. But if I had my time all over again I would oppose racism just as strongly as I did then.

In other words, she would do it all over again. Some people never learn anything, and some people are too infatuated with their quasi-religious social doctrines to learn anything.

Gordon Brown Rattles His Sabres September 20, 2007

And maybe this snake has fangs. But does the poison have any toxicity?

Agence France Presse:

Prime Minister Gordon Brown proposed new sanctions against Zimbabwe on Thursday and threatened to boycott an EU-African summit in December if its President Robert Mugabe attended.

The government in Harare said Brown was “wasting his time” by warning he would stay away from the talks in Lisbon, insisting the 83-year-old president had been invited and was going, and the president of neighbouring Zambia said he would boycott the summit if Mugabe were excluded.

Portuguese Foreign Minister Luis Amado later said he would prefer Brown to attend the meeting than Mugabe, but that no invitations had yet been sent out. He promised to work towards resolving the situation in the coming weeks.

Brown, whose comments were applauded by Zimbabwean activists and rights groups, said Mugabe’s presence in the Portuguese capital would flout a European Union travel ban on him and his entourage.

“President Mugabe is the only African leader to face an EU travel ban. There is a reason for this — the abuse of his own people,” he wrote in an article in The Independent newspaper.

(snip)

In addition, he called for EU sanctions against more than 100 individuals in Mugabe’s regime to be more widely applied.

EU sanctions — there’s a good laugh. If Mugabe shows up in Portugal, that’ll show you how useless the EU and any of its “sanctions” against Mugabe are. I’m sure those hundred cronies of his are shaking in their jack boots over the prospect of themselves facing an EU “travel ban” (insert laugh tracks here).

An update and an addition to the Poetic Justice section at the St. Louis CofCC Static Webpage:

1.  Rachel Corrie’s family tried to sue Caterpillar, who made the bulldozer that ran her over and killed here.  The Ninth Circuit Federal Courts of Appeals turned them down, citing judicial restraint (!!), and stating that for any court to hear this case would be for them to give themselves unconstitutional supervision over foreign policy.

2.  Jacque Gorman narrative added.  She is a retired teacher from Providence, R.I., who “fulfilled a lifelong dream” and “was in her glory” by traveling to Africa to teach children.  Jungle diseases were probably not part of the “dream” and the “glory,” and the medical expenses have bled her family dry (and they can’t even afford to bring her home), so they’re running around Providence with their hands out.

AP:

BISSAU, Guinea-Bissau - The fishermen who came across the bags of white powder bobbing in the ocean knew they had found something valuable, but they weren’t sure exactly what.

Back in their village, women unwrapped the layers of plastic and sprinkled the contents on their crops, thinking it might be fertilizer.

Soon entire fields were dusted with cocaine, say police who use the incident two years ago to illustrate how easily their country became the world’s newest narco-state, a way station for South American cocaine heading to Europe.

The rest of this article describes how the country of Guinea-Bissau, like many other countries on the west coast of Africa, have become narco-states that are essentially drop points in the international cocaine trafficking ring, because black African politicians and authorities are easily corruptible. Of course they would be, because their civilian populations are so stupid that they would assume that a bag of white powder floating in the ocean is fertilizer, and in earnest sprinkle it on their crops.

Agence France Presse:

More than 1,300 shop owners and business managers have been arrested in Zimbabwe as part of a crackdown on firms accused of flouting government-imposed price controls, police said Monday.

Most of the 1,328 bosses had been fined but the number also includes 33 company executives arrested since Friday who will now appear in court, said police spokesman Chief Superintendent Oliver Mandipaka.

(snip)

“We will continue to arrest anyone who will defy the government imposed controls on basic food comodities. We will not stop until there is order in the business community,” he said.

On Saturday opposition leader Morgan Tsvangirai called the price controls and subsequent crackdown “crooked economics” and “an election gimmick” ahead of parliamentary and presidential polls due to be held next year.

That’s what they are.  But if they don’t work for the purpose, Mugabe can resort to what he has done in the past to steal elections — murder and terrorize his political opposition, and do the same to likely voters for the opposition.

Mugabe wants to throw government-imposed price controls on top of government-sponsored hyperinflation courtesy of printing press money. The analogy between Mugabe’s solution and President Nixon’s solutions in the 1970s is prescient, but the USA never faced what some economists predict will be a 1,500,000% inflation rate for Zimbabwe next year.
