So says “Jane,” and her assessment of countries and their relative stability and prosperity. The Vatican and Sweden are 1-2, and the Central African Republic is in last place. The U.S. is 22nd, and the report blames Mexican drugs and American handgun ownership as reasons why it’s not higher. Frankly, it would be even more unstable without the latter, and as for the former, I tend to cite the people that enter from south of the border rather than the substances. Notwithstanding the reality that the inner cores of most major American cities look far more like the Central African Republic than Sweden.
