New York Newsday:

Senator vows to target N.J. businesses hiring illegal immigrants

TRENTON, N.J. - A New Jersey Senate leader said he will push legislation to punish businesses who knowingly hiring illegal immigrants.

Senate Majority Leader Stephen Sweeney said his decision comes after a federal judge upheld an Arizona law that prohibits businesses from knowingly hiring illegal immigrants and yanks the business licenses of those that do.

“Companies that knowingly hire illegals are destroying job opportunities for the working men and women of New Jersey,” said Sweeney, D-Gloucester. “The practice has to be stopped.”

Myrtle Beach (S.C.) Sun:

Parents upset by racial chants at school

During a Black History Month celebration at Carvers Bay High School, the Rev. Kylon Middleton spent about 20 minutes talking about the accomplishments of the black community and encouraging all students, regardless of race, to succeed despite adversity.

But it’s the five minutes of his speech when he mentioned “black power” and said “black is beautiful” that has a handful of white parents upset.

So far at Carvers Bay High School there have been no reported incidents of racial disharmony since the school opened in 2000. The school is one of two formed after the U.S. Department of Justice issued a desegregation order in 1996.

Parents phoned the district late Thursday with complaints that their children had felt uncomfortable during the schoolwide assembly, when students raised their fists in the air and chanted “black is back.”

What do they think the point of black history month is?  It is to pump up the real and imaginary accomplishments of America’s black population, in order to pump up the self-esteem of black students, so that they may somehow overcome the achievement gap, or at the very least stop shooting each other.

Actually, it could have been a lot worse, and I imagine that it’s going to get a lot worse as the phenomenon denoted by Ann Coulter as B. Hussein Obama keeps racking up victories.
