Showdown at the SLFD Corral September 7, 2007

Mayor Slay’s Public Service Director has ordered Fire Chief Sherman George to make the promotions by the close of business one week from now, or else.

Or else, what?

The trouble with this saber-rattling is this: Does this snake have fangs? Would a race pandering mayor and his Public Safety spokesmouth really fire a black fire chief? And does Sherman George think that this is an empty threat? I bet that Chief George will call their bluff and won’t make these promotions, and that Slay and Co. will huff and puff, but blow nothing down, as they’re too scared to cross this town’s civil rights industry. These promotions will never happen.

American Chronicle:

Kentucky remains the Worst Sanctuary State, under Republican RINO Governor Ernie Fletcher and there is a good reason why.

Governor Ernie Fletcher is running for re election in Kentucky and recently appeared on the Lexington Kentucky Talk Radio Show the Pulse with host Leland Conway last week to promote his re election and talk to citizens of the state about plans he had for us and the state.

(snip)

Fletcher’s responses to the questions offered by the host and this writer reveal he thinks illegal alien Marxist invaders should be left alone (permitted to continue their crime spree) as long as “they are paying their taxes and not bothering anybody.”

(snip)

We will be looking forward to seeing Kentucky RINO Senator Mitch McConnell beaten next. He is still saying the Marxist invasion is a “federal issue” (code for amnesty) and nothing can be done on state and local levels. Well we sure don’t need someone who is ignorant of the issues in the senate either. He must not be aware of what is going on in states all over the country, like Oklahoma, Georgia, Missouri, Arizona, Florida, and many others.

As an aside, Fletcher beat back a primary challenge from former Congresswoman Anne Northup last month, but only by a 11-point margin (49% to 38%).  The fact that the incumbent Governor couldn’t get a simple majority in his own party’s primary does not spell good news for him has he faces off against the state’s Democratic Lieutenant Governor this November.  Now we know why.

College is the New High School September 7, 2007

Thirty-six percent of Missouri high school graduates in 2005 and 2006 who went on to attend a public two-year or four-year college in the state needed remedial classes in either math, English or reading. This figure is up from 26% ten years ago.

Of course, the state’s educrats are in a panic, and they want to make sure that high school graduates are ready for college-level work. The trouble is, if they make high school more difficult, it will increase the dropout rate and reduce the graduation rate, especially among non-white students, and those same educrats will then complain about how the lack of a high school diploma increases the chances of anything and everything bad happening in the lives of those who haven’t earned one.

Horror of Horrors — Switzerland wants to Remain Swiss September 7, 2007

I know, it’s a shocking thing.

The particularly offensive thing about this article is that it implies that simply because Switzerland, until recently, had a tradition of neutrality in foreign policy and anti-bellicosity in military affairs, and a pan-European ethnic makeup with four official languages that are all European languages, that those things automatically mandate that it have virtually open borders with and for the whole world.

From the facts section of this article:

* More than 20 per cent of the Swiss population, and 25 per cent of its workforce, is non-naturalised.

* At the end of 2006, 5,888 people were interned in Swiss prisons. 31 per cent were Swiss citizens – 69 per cent were foreigners or asylum-seekers.

Maybe that’s why the Swiss don’t want their country becoming a non-white country.

KSDK-NBC-5:

Gun shop owners and salespeople in the St. Louis area say business is up at least 20% since a new law became effective August 28th eliminating a time-consuming permit process for purchasing handguns.

The new law also eliminates a $10 fee.

Many buyers were aware of the change and put off purchases until now.

Under the previous system, a county sheriff’s department was supposed to do its own background check before issuing a permit. That was in addition to an FBI background check. Proponents said it offered an extra level of security to keep guns away from those who shouldn’t have them.

But critics argued that the old law was often overly restrictive as interpreted by some sheriffs.

It couldn’t have “offered an extra level of security,” because the “permit to transfer” paperwork simply meant that the office of the county sheriff ran a background check through the same systems that get queued and searched when the FBI instant background check is done. And the criticism revolving around “overly restrictive as interpreted by some sheriffs” is absolutely right, and I can attest to that personally as someone who has made legal handgun purchases as a St. Louis City resident. The city sheriff’s office made you fulfill all the legal requirements, and bring in two written letters of recommendation from people who were not related to you nor the seller of the handgun. That was just Jim Murphy’s way of messing around and discouraging legal handgun sales in his city.

When I detailed the steps one had to take with the now-discarded system to purchase a handgun legally, I forgot to state the $10 fee and the letters of recommendation in Step 5.
