Arpaio Credits Hotline for Discovery of Homicide Victim
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is defending his illegal immigration hotline after the weekend discovery of a dead body and the arrest of several illegals at a drop-house in El Mirage.
“Isn’t it great when citizens call in?” Arpaio said.
He says he’s received several tips from El Mirage about possible illegal immigrants, including the home, Saturday, where police found a dead body.
“This is … we’re checking our records because the next door neighbor said she called our hotline about this house. So it may be this house that came to our hotline also.”
Arpaio says critics take note: Saturday’s round-up proves the hotline is working.
I thought we couldn’t actually arrest and crack down on illegal aliens who had no other warrants, because all the fear of ICE would keep them from cooperating with cops (being mindful of the fact that, in many places where illegal aliens are, the cities have sanctuary policies, so the local cops can’t report illegals to ICE anyway), when the cops need help to solve really serious crimes.
